Le projet « Maryana » se propose de rassembler l’ensemble des productions de la Nahḍa dans un portail unique, que ces œuvres soient publiées ou non, qu’elles soient des traductions d’autres œuvres ou qu’elles soient aujourd’hui perdues.
La première phase du projet « Maryana » repose sur la valorisation scientifique d’ouvrages traduits pendant plus d’un siècle et présents dans les bibliothèques en France et dans le monde. Le projet consiste à repérer ces traductions isolées dans les bibliothèques et créer un lien entre elles en les cataloguant dans une bibliothèque virtuelle dédiée. Un partenariat avec le logiciel Diamond-ILS, développé par l’Idéo (Institut dominicain d’études orientales au Caire) permet de créer une bibliothèque virtuelle qui disposera de son catalogue dédié. Par ailleurs, toutes ces données seront aussi visibles dans le catalogue général Diamond et s’appuieront sur les données référentielles déjà enregistrées. Un autre intérêt de travailler dans Diamond est que les principaux moteurs de recherche scannent ces données et les affichent dans les résultats de recherche (Google, Yahoo, etc.) Enfin, loin de créer une nouvelle base de données qui ne sera pas maintenue au terme du projet, Diamond hébergera ces notices de manière pérenne, permettant à d’autres chercheurs de continuer à les enrichir.
Les standards Ifla-LRM de bibliothéconomie sur lesquels Diamond-ILS s’appuie permettent de distinguer les œuvres sources, avec leurs titres originaux, et les liens qu’elles entretiennent avec d’autres œuvres, et leurs traductions. Ainsi le chercheur a-t-il sous les yeux une véritable cartographie intellectuelle de ces œuvres et de leur histoire éditoriale.
En offrant une plate-forme qui donne accès à des textes arabes au contenu enrichi, le projet répond donc à un besoin de la communauté scientifique.
Cette première phase du projet « Maryana » se donne ainsi quatre objectifs :
1. Identifier les auteurs, les titres traduits, le statut de ces traductions ;
2. Cataloguer les œuvres traduites qui sont disponibles en ligne (via des permalinks) et libres de droits ;
3. Relier les données de ces bibliothèques, créant ainsi un portail unique qui pointe vers les catalogues existants ;
4. Enrichir les bases de données en ligne en identifiant les traductions non numérisées, les numériser et les cataloguer dans Diamond.

The “Maryana” project aims at bringing together all the productions of the Nahḍa in a single portal, whether these works are published or not, whether they are translations of other works or whether they are now lost.
The first phase of the “Maryana” project is based on the scientific valorization of works translated during more than a century and present in libraries in France and in the world. The project consists in locating these isolated translations in libraries and creating a link between them by cataloging them in a dedicated virtual library. Thanks to a partnership with the Diamond-ILS online application, developed by the IDEO (Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies in Cairo), a virtual library will be created with its own dedicated online catalog. Moreover, all these data will also be visible in the general Diamond catalog and will be based on the referential data already recorded. Another advantage of working in Diamond is that the main search engines scan these data and display them in the search results (Google, Yahoo, etc.) Finally, far from creating a new database that will not be maintained at the end of the project, Diamond will host these records in a perennial way, allowing other researchers to continue to enrich them.
The IFLA-LRM cataloging model on which Diamond-ILS is based makes it possible to distinguish between source works, with their original titles, and the links they have with other works, and their translations. Thus, the researcher has before their eyes a true intellectual cartography of these works and their editorial history.
Thus, by offering a platform that gives access to Arabic texts with enriched content, the project meets the needs of the scientific community.
This first phase of the “Maryana” project has four objectives:
1. To identify the authors, the translated titles, and the status of these translations;
2. To catalog the translated works that are available online (via permalinks) and free of rights;
3. To link the data from these libraries, creating a single portal that points to existing catalogs;
4. To enrich the online databases by identifying undigitized translations, digitizing them and cataloging them in Diamond.
